This is a proposed course lecture and assignments. The aim of this example is to make the majority of the materials available online.
It is still in progress.
Objective:
Through completing the series of readings and exercises, the student will
have an understanding of Design Hierarchies and how to visually communicate
them.

There are multiple types of Hierarchies within Web development, and multiple
types of sites. Today we'll be referring to a simple menu driven site. "This
is a multiple part lecture, we'll be talking about the other types of sites,
and how they fit within the Design Hierarchies in subsequent lectures
Assignments:
Read and review the
lecture notes and follow the instructions for the assignments which are due
next week in class.

tutorial on drawing editing specifically for the class and choose SAVE
TO DISK.

Download Flash elements
of a Web page call design_elements.fla and choose SAVE TO DISK. Moving
and resizing the elements, create 8 thumbs by moving the elements around,
resizing them, coloring them. Group each one, and reduce it to a still readable
size. Place it on a new page and do a screen grab (is there an easier way?
yes...print)

Find one site with
poor visual layout, and one you think is excellent.
Send the links to me and the rest of the class along with a why.
Please read the brief …and look at the sites.
Look at the links and in class we'll pick the top 3 and discuss their similarities.
